Foster Care Application
Animal Neglect and Abuse is against the law
To report Animal Neglect/Abuse:
Animal Control for City of Richmond: 765-983-7247
Animal Control for Wayne County: 765-973-9200
Tethering or otherwise leaving a dog outside for an extended period without supervision not only deprives the animal of companionship, care, exercise, and attention, but can also lead to behavior problems (including aggression). It may place the dog in serious physical danger: A confined or tethered dog is unable to escape the harsh effects of weather (heat, cold, storms, etc.), attack by other animals, or theft or abuse by humans. The HSUS receives countless calls and letters from pet owners and neighbors about dogs who have died from exposure or been stolen, abused, or even killed while left tied outside.
If you are concerned about a dog who is frequently tethered or otherwise left outside without proper shelter, food, or water, please contact your local humane society or animal control agency.

Adoption Application
This is Sydney, our featured pet.
Hi, I'm Sydney. I am still at the shelter waiting for my mom to come and get me. I am confused and can't understand where she has gone.
She loved us all so much, and I just know that she would never forget me, but I don't see my brother's anywhere. I am scared. She meant everything to me.
Seems like I am going to be stuck here forever, unless mom comes back for me, or some other nice person comes in to get me out of here.
I miss being inside my house and snuggling up on the couch to watch TV and playing with my brothers. If mom isn't coming back, maybe you can come and pick me up?? I want to go home.
It's cold and dark here when all of the people that take care of me leave and go home. I will be here waiting!!!!
Sydney had a wonderful home with a Mom who loved her so much, but Sydney’s Mom got really sick and died and Sydney was left without a home. She got lots of love at her “old” home and now being in a shelter is sad and scary. Yes, big brave dogs get scared when they have to come live in a shelter with other dogs they don’t know.
Sydney is a 4 year old Bull Terrier mix. She is very well trained and is spayed and up to date on her shots. She loves to go in the car and is leash trained. If you can give her an inside home and the love she is looking for, please come by and meet her. Sydney has a friend who also lived with her and her Mom, but her friend Max already got a new family.
Sydney was showing her resentment at her situation for a while and even though she is doing much better now, we are very concerned about her. She is really a very sweet, loyal and loving dog, but she really desperately needs a permanent home very soon.
DID YOU KNOW…
In 2004, 3 to 4 million lost and unwanted dogs and cats were euthanized in American animal shelters, a rate of one animal every nine seconds.
Spay and Neuter your pet, stop the killing now!
If you have a dog that hasn't been altered, won't you consider having it done now before more puppies are brought into this world homeless and with no chance of getting a home?
The puppies and kittens at our shelter are the lucky ones. Everyday in our cities, states and nation, many puppies and kittens are put to sleep because they don't have a home to go to.
Please spay or neuter your pets
